New to Kyle
The sign-ups and deadlines that come with a Kyle address, each linked to the office that sets the rule. Two of them have a real clock on them; the rest just save you a second bill or a lost letter.

Before move day
Electricity. Most of Kyle is served by Pedernales Electric Cooperative. It is a member cooperative rather than a retail market, so there is no plan to shop for: you start service with PEC directly. Ask the leasing office which utility serves the building before you sign up, since a few addresses fall outside PEC territory. Start service with PEC

Water, sewer and trash. Many communities bill water and trash back to you through the lease, and some have you open an account with the city. The City of Kyle bills water, sewer, trash and storm drainage where it provides them, and not every Kyle address gets its water from the city. Ask the office which applies to your building. Mail forwarding. Set the forwarding date at the post office site a few days ahead so nothing lands at the old address after you leave. USPS change of address

Renters insurance. Many Kyle leases require it and name the community as an interested party. Read your lease for the minimum coverage it asks for, then set the policy to start on the lease date rather than the day it comes to mind.

Driver license address. Texas requires the address on a driver license or ID card to be changed within thirty days of moving. It can be done online for most people. Texas DPS address change

Vehicle registration, if you are new to Texas. New residents have thirty days to register a vehicle in Texas, and it needs a Texas inspection first. Moving within Texas only needs the address updated. TxDMV new to Texas

Voter registration. A move changes your precinct even inside the same county. Update it once, on the same day as the license, and it is done. VoteTexas

School enrollment. Kyle addresses are in Hays CISD, and the campus is set by the attendance zone the address falls in. Confirm the zone for your exact address on the district map before you enroll, and have the previous school send records ahead. Hays CISD enrollment
When you have a minute
City alerts and 3-1-1. Inside the city limits, 3-1-1 reaches the city for billing and service questions. The city runs an alert service too, for weather and road closures, which is worth having on a phone in flood season. City of Kyle
Two of them. Texas gives you thirty days to change the address on a driver license or ID card, and thirty days to register a vehicle if you are new to the state. Everything else is a matter of not paying twice or missing mail.

You open an account with PEC. If the leasing office tells you the building is served by someone else, follow their instructions instead.
The lease decides. Some communities bill water, sewer and trash back to you on the rent statement; others have you open an account with the city or the water supplier. The lease says which, and the office will tell you before you sign if you ask.
Not here, on purpose. A page that names a mechanic or a vet is only useful if someone has used them, and we would rather publish nothing than a list nobody has checked. The deadlines and sign-ups above come from the agencies that set them.
